Addiction
Most people associate addictions with some form of
substance, but it is possible to experience habit-forming chemical reactions to
behaviour as well. Craving more time on the Internet and the computer. Increased
sense of euphoria as engaging in programming Including events on the Internet. Changes
in sleep patterns.
Online disinhibition effect
This dissociative behaviour results in people feeling less
inhibited due to the anonymity of the Internet and therefore results in
increased antisocial, disruptive behaviour. Mean spirited blog comments, threatening
emails, and other negative comments are often encouraged by this effect.
Cyber stalking
Cyberstalking is a criminal practice where an individual
uses the Internet to systematically harass or threaten someone. A
woman contacted police, claiming someone had given her private information,
including her location and her description, to men through a dating service.
Claire began being harassed by strangers after someone made a post on the
Internet offering sexual services in her name.
Cyber bullying
the use of electronic
communication to bully a person, typically by sending messages of an
intimidating or threatening nature. Posting unwanted pictures or messages to social media outlets. Sending
harassing text messages. Creating fake accounts to impersonate someone else. Accessing
private files or folders on personal computers.
